EMPOWERING THOUGHTS
(Being shared with all my friends .. . . Ernie Delfin)
“You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot help the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer. You cannot further the Brotherhood of Man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more that you earn. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.”
The first paragraph of AS I SEE IT, the autobiography of J. Paul Getty

“I can liken life before you to that of a ship, its prow pointed towards the great ocean as it leaves the harbor for the distant shore. Storms may come, and they will, for no ship ever sailed the seas but had to face the storm. If it is strong from keel to top, from bow to stern, well maintained and intelligently directed, it rides the storms and goes on its way. So you will meet many obstacles, storms of your life. If you are strong in your faith, clear headed, honest, trusting for divine care and with character built on solid rock you will meet all troubles in life victorious.”
I copied these wordings written in front of the granite statue of Charles E. Chapman, founder of Chapman University, in the said university campus in Orange, California.
“Servicing the needs of others is the only legitimate business in the world today!”
